28.02.09 v Tyneside Vinyard
Two teams fighting for division one promotion met in the first round of the cup, All Saints already having the upper hand after beating them 3-1 earlier in the season and coming from 3-0 to draw 3-3. However it was a stronger a more physical Tyneside team that turned out and seemed more determined then All Saints to go through to round 2. In a game bogged down by mud most of the football was long balls and wing play, which seemed to suit Tynesides game more. Tyneside took the lead half an hour in when a ball over the top of the defence was collected by their striker to slot home. It was a poor first half display with All Saints cunjering up few chances.
The second half was more lively as both teams pressed forward; Tyneside doubled their lead with half an hour to go with a goalmouth scramble that ended in the back of the net. Stephen Farish almost pulled a goal back but his lopping header came back off the bar. Aaron Bennett did well to get a shot away after a mazy run but his shot came back off the post. Jamie Dunn also hit the post late on, and Tyneside piled further misery on All Saints when a flicked header was met at the back post to nod home; a terrible day for All Saints with many in disbelief with their uncharacteristic performance.
