All Saints Kings put in a solid, professional performance against Ryton from the Premier Division in their second group game of the Andy Walker Trophy. The final scoreline was a fair and just result, with All Saints having the lion’s share of possession throughout the match. The first 15 minutes were scrappy, with many long balls from end to end, dealt with at will by both defences. The first chance came after 10 minutes when a great ball by Richie Robinson found Graham Walters in acres of space to cross for Jamie Dunn who’s deft touch clipped the outside of the post. All Saints didn’t have to wait long for the first goal though, as Matthew Trotter played a ball down the left wing for Will Turton to cross, and after several ricochet’s, the ball went in off Graham Walters to make it 1-0 to the visitors. With half an hour played All Saints doubled their lead, a long ball forward from the Kings defence wasn’t cleared; the ball fell to Richie Robinson on the edge of the area, he beat one man before firing the ball across the keeper and into the back of the net. 2-0. Ryton’s only chance of the game came just before half time as a ball over the top left the Ryton striker through on goal but he miss-controlled and the ball ran through to Michael Farish.
Half Time: Ryton Churches 0 v 2 All Saints Kings Academy
The second half was a similar affair as All Saints again pressed. Several opportunities came and went, until 15 minutes from time, Stephen Farish won the ball in the middle before beating a man and passing wide to substitute Aaron Bennett whose excellent first time ball found Ben Kerry at the back post to rise above the defender to nod the ball home. 3-0. With 5 minutes to go All Saints should have had a penalty as Will Turton’s strike was blocked by a defender with his arms above his head but the referee waved play on. A solid display throughout the team, All Saints will be happy with their overall performance!
