Heworth Christian Fellowship 2
All Saints Kings Academy 1

Stephen Farish (1)

A top of the table clash saw All Saints match up against Heworth for probably the biggest match of the season. With All Saints unbeaten at the top and 11 points above their rivals many had seemingly written off the game, but this was not to be the case. Heworth outbattled All Saints throughout the match, as the visitors failed to turn in a decent performance on a bright morning. However All Saints should have been one up after ten minutes when Jamie Dunn headed in Richie Robinsons free kick with the referee incorrectly ruling the goal out for offside. From then on it was all Heworth possession, although they didn’t create many chances. One shot straight at Michael Farish in the All Saints goal; but they took the lead when their centre back struck a volley from a free kick taken outside the area which went in off the post. Half time came with one goal the difference but All Saints seemingly beaten off the pitch.

Half-Time: Heworth 1 v 0 All Saints

After All Saints endured a dressing down at half time with some stern words from manager Tim Wye-Williams, they started the second half brighter but still failed to create much. Robinson firing a 25 yard drive over the bar. Heworth again had the best chance but their striker lost his composure when through on goal. With 15 minutes to play Wye-Williams changed formation and went with three at the back, this put All Saints on constant attack; with several corners coming after some good work across the team. All Saints drew level due to all this pressure when Robinson swung in a corner to the back post for Stephen Farish to rise highest to power a header past the goalkeeper. The tide seemed to have turned but to the disappointment of the travelling fans Heworth hit back two minutes later when Jamie Hood lunged in inside the area to give away a penalty, that the Heworth striker fired into the top left hand corner. All Saints had little time to respond but a free kick from Robinson fired wide with the last kick of the game summed up the poorest performance of the season for All Saints.
