An early top of the table clash saw the two newly promoted teams from division two; a scrappy first half saw little creativity between the two side as All Saints struggled to gain momentum in the first twenty minutes with both defences and midfields battling hard to keep chances to a minimum. The best chance of the first half came when Richie Robinson gathered the ball outside the box and dribbled past two defenders only to see his shot blocked by a last ditch tackle. The only other chance of the half came when Stephen Farish charged forward, played a 1-2 with Matthew Eley, cut inside then struck the ball left footed, but dragged his shot wide of the right hand post. Both keepers had little to do!
Half-Time: Bethany 0 v 0 All Saints
The half-time break seemed to rejuvenate All Saints as they started the half on the front foot, with several of All Saints forward line spurning chances throughout the half. They could have been made to pay for the lack of cutting edge as Bethany hit on the counter attack, releasing the ball down the left to the fast paced wing back, who cut inside only for his shot to clip the outside of the post. It seemed like it could be one of those days that ended 0-0 but this warning seemed to spurn All Saints into life and they scored five minutes later when a corner routine went according to plan; Richie Robinson crossing to the back post for Stephen Farish to nod home unmarked. All Saints again spurned some glorious chances, including two 1 on 1’s and the game started to feel a little tense; some great defending from the whole back line, in particular Jamie Hood made sure that All Saints held on to their clean sheet. With 10 minutes remaining All Saints doubled their lead as Farish played a long left-footed volley forward that Jamie Dunn Laid off for Chris Trotter to play a through ball, Robinson making no mistake this time as he fired past the keeper, 2-0! With only 3 minutes to play Dunn latched onto a Robinson through ball and he got to the ball before the keeper to slot home. An assured second half performance giving Kings the win they deserved and they stay well clear at the top of the division one table.
